The 10th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference kicks into gear Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Alexandria, Virginia. The Conference begins at 11:30 a.m. with an exclusive tour of Washington DC + lunch for Mesothelioma Patients and Families. The evening will feature a private dinner for honorees, speakers, and sponsors.

 

The Conference, which will benefit asbestos victims, education, advocacy, and community support, has attracted more than 30 speakers from over 10 countries. Just a few prominent keynote speakers include Rear Admiral (RADM) Boris Lushniak, Acting U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Barry Castleman, Sc.D. (Environmental Consultant to the U.S. government, international bodies, and environmental groups), and Yvonne Waterman (Yvonne Waterman, Sc.D., GBAN Charter Member, The Netherlands). These speakers and more will take the podium throughout the day on Saturday April 5, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 4:55 p.m.

 

The Awards and Recognition Dinner follows shortly after at 6:30 p.m. and begins with Tribute of Hope Honoree Congressman Henry Waxman.

 

The 10th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference ends Sunday April, 6 with a Unity and Remembrance Brunch from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Just a few Sunday speakers include Dr. Richard Lemen (retired Assistant Surgeon General), and Susan Vento—widow of Congressman Bruce Vento who died of mesothelioma in 2000.

 

The Conference closes with a Performance by Jill Cagle (written by Laura Story) titled “Blessings,” and a Candle Lighting directed by Ellen Costa.
